The Law on Mass Media is the main law which has been refreshed and changed continually. It was last refreshed in 2009 (Compulenta, 2009). WW1: Art Propaganda Essay German 1: As Jesus remained on the slope, he pointed the German troopers off to fight. With a cross behind him the Lord remained with his hand up gift the soldiers as the go off. With the announcement God rebuff England, underneath the image the Germans had a sense of security with God on their side. The sky is dull and overcast yet over Jesus head is a ring of light. As the ride into this murkiness they take with them the gift of Jesus. We will compose a custom exposition on WW1: Art Propaganda explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now This banner is coordinated to strict Germans who were headed toward fight and their families. One of the two guideline religions in German at the time was Roman Catholicism. So for them to see Jesus investigating the warriors they felt more content with the war. It could be viewed as Jesus requesting that the Germans battle against England to secure the land and the individuals of Germany. Feeling a strict duty the Germans headed out to fight England. The ring of light over Jesus head hangs out in obscurity sky. I charge this can be viewed as a beam of expectation. Additionally the cross behind Jesus upholds the strict convictions of the congregation. Indeed, even idea he isn't nailed to the cross it is situated so that from the start on the off chance that you are a Roman Catholic you recollect the battles Jesus had persevered. Also, ultimately in light of the fact that Jesus is on a slope investigating them it depicts the picture that he is investigating them and sending them determined to rebuff England. With religion come compelling feelings, for example, enthusiasm, love and commitment. To charge somebody who is otherworldly, of conflicting with the exhortation and expression of Jesus or God sparkles irate and rage. Feeling the strict obligation and weight German officers felt it was more than their obligation to their province or families. God had picked them to face in this conflict against England and acquire home triumph to his realm Germany. This thought ingrained pride and commitment in the officers as the headed out to fight. German 2: As the solider remains with his arm noticeable all around and pride in his eyes, electrical discharges hit down onto England. The tempest mists sit under the announcement, everything for the local nation. The helping jolts diving from the tempest mists are striking two territories. On the left you see a plant and on the privilege a congregation and houses. With a firearm in one and hand and the other up high he shows trust in his battle. I feel the target group for this banner is the individuals who don't comprehend what this battle is doing to England. This shows Germanys assaults are hitting England in all parts of there lives. It looks as though the tempest is being made by the Germans power. This one to me has the most fundamental images. On the left there is an industrial facility getting struck by helping. This represents the Germans assault on Englands economy. The correct side shows a congregation and houses. This speaks to the families and religion that is being pulverized in this war. The helping speaks to the intensity of Germany and their assaults striking in this war. This raises energy for the Germans to see that their officers are hitting England right where it harms the most. They feel certain seeing these jolts or helping originating from this solider. US: A brilliant chance, is the message in this banner. As an enlistment instrument for the US Navy they show the positive side of joining. There is a mariner grinning with his sacks pressed all prepared to head of and safeguard his nation. Out of sight is a huge Navy transport sitting in the sea. The sea is made to look quiet and brimming with unlimited undertakings. .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 , .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 .postImageUrl , .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 .focused content zone { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 , .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9:hover , .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9:visited , .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9:active { border:0!important; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; obscurity: 1; change: murkiness 250ms; webkit-progress: darkness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9:active , .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9:hover { mistiness: 1; change: haziness 250ms; webkit-progress: murkiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 .focused content zone { width: 100%; position: relative; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: striking; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content embellishment: underline; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; text style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; outskirt span: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; textual style weight: intense; line-stature: 26px; moz-fringe sweep: 3px; content adjust: focus; content adornment: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/basic arrow.png)no-rehash; position: supreme; right: 0; top: 0; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c 09828ff15ec8be9 .focused content { show: table; tallness: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u163d2fd25288ac45c09828ff15ec8be9:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: An Ecosystem's Disturbance by a Pollutant EssayThe solider is thinking back grinning however stepping forward. This represents leaving on the following excursion. He is prepared to join the Navy and is pleased to have this chance. His sacks are stuffed and all set indicating that he is energized. The feelings for this banner are set by the tone. This is a cheerful, energetic, positive picture to see. This imparts energy and expectation for mariners. They can not hold back to get onto this boat they find in the banner and set out and set sail. They are prepared to make the most of this awesome open door the legislature is offering t hem to investigate and see the world. Australia: As two little youngsters stand holding the Australian banner, the message our daddy is battling, purchase war advance bonds and assist him with winning the war, lays underneath them. The youngsters are standing close clasping hands, with terrified looks on the face. I feel the wording makes this banner incredibly ground-breaking. This is planned for the individuals who are not battling the war and are expected to make a commitment. Seeing the kids soliciting for benefit from their daddy who is at war can be for the most part coordinated to individuals with youngsters. I feel the most grounded represent in this banner is the words. For instance words, for example, daddy, and help him win, show the childrens blamelessness. Additionally them standing close and clasping hands, shows they are terrified and remaining together. This to me is the most passionate on. The kids hit you directly in the heart. You see their requirement for help and consideration. I can see individuals responding with pity and catastrophe. They understand that purchasing a war credit bond is a little commitment contrasted with proposals youngsters losing their daddy. Look at/Contrast: A considerable lot of these banners hit you in the heart. The German solider making the tempest and the youngsters hit you on to a greater extent an individual level. The two of them manage family. The helping jolt hitting the house and the congregation shows the immediate assault on people groups homes and lives. The Australian banner shows the loss of one of the a huge number of families that lost a dad in World War 1. The German banner is progressively savage and imparts certainty as well as dread also. It demonstrates that this war is nearer to home at that point individuals might want. The demolition of homes, families, and lives is made genuine through this banner. Where as the Australian banner isn't fierce. It gets compassion from watchers. In a manner it instills dread. In the event that you are a spouse or a youngster with a friend or family member at war you know the hard ships these kids are persevering. I feel the even idea I am upset by the German banner, it makes a more grounded point. Indicating where the assaults are hitting causes the war to appear to be somewhat more genuine. It shows that the arrangement of assault is all around considered. The tempest mists and helping jolts are a simple, essential image. It is simple for anybody to comprehend this banner and its significance.

My Intersectional Nonfiction 2018 Reading List

My Intersectional Nonfiction 2018 Reading List This is a guest post from Christina Orlando. Christina runs  Muse Monthly, the subscription box for books and tea. She is a champion for diversity in the lit community, and is dedicated to supporting marginalized voices across the publishing industry. She lives in New York, sports seven literary tattoos, loves all media, and is a proud queer Latinx business owner. Follow her on Twitter  @cxorlando    @musemonthly. This is not your mother’s reading challenge. As we steadily inch closer to the New Year, there will be a lot of talk about reading challenges, goals, and ways to knock down that ever-growing To-Be-Read Pile. I’m a big fan of reading challenges, especially those that encourage you to step outside your comfort zone a little bit. However, this year I’ve decided to do something a little different. I’m assigning myself a list of non-fiction works centered around my personal identityâ€"texts on gender, sexuality, and race, with a focus on intersectionality and queer and/or trans people of color. This pursuit is less about reading for pleasure and more about academic enrichment and personal growth. This past year has been a tough one on anyone who could be considered a minorityâ€"the past few years, reallyâ€"and though society and young people are becoming more and more aware of the growing issues facing minority groups, for me, it’s not enough to be “woke.” A lot of the information I have now comes from the internet or from the experiences of friends, which is important information, but I still don’t feel properly equipped. My list focuses less on personal essay collections a la Bad Feminist  (which are still important) and more on academic sources, when possible. The intention of this reading challenge is to give myself a better education about the history of feminism and queerness, racial issues, and how modern conceptualizations of these issues have evolved. I remember taking a single Gender Sexuality class in collegeâ€"the required amountâ€"and the professor asking on the first day what we hoped to learn. I mentioned I wanted to learn more about how bisexuality fit into LGBTQ history. The subject wasn’t even touched. Racial differences weren’t even touched. Latinx lit or history classes weren’t even offered. There was so much that I missed out on. Good news is, I feel like a better student as I near my thirties than I was during my college years, so I’m ready to take this challenge on. I encourage you to do the same. Here’s my plan: Gender Trouble  by Judith Butler Feminism is for Everybody  by bell hooks The Second Sex  by Simone de Beauvoir The Feminine Mystique  by Betty Friedan Sexing the Body  by Anne Fausto-Sterling A Queer History of the United States  by Michael Bronski Transgender History  by Susan Stryker Sapphistries: A Global History of Love between Women  by Leila J. Leadership in The Odyssey - Free Essay Example

In The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus displays being a strong leader through his responsibility, courage, and brilliance while leading his warriors through calm and harsh times. Odysseus faces hard decisions at times, but his leadership never wavers. In Greek mythology, a strong leader defines as being respected by those he leads, he has logical thinking, and he shows bright ideas. In the beginning of the story, Odysseus demonstrates his responsible character when making the heart-wrenching decision between his family or war. He has to decide between leaving his wife and newborn and possibly never seeing them again, or not fighting for his hometown Ithaca. This shows when Odysseus watches his native land disappear, Mine is a rugged land but good for raising sons, and I myself, I know no sweeter sight on earth than a mans own native country (Homer 212). The passage explains that it is hard to watch his land go, but it is also saying bye to raising his family and his self as a person. Also, it is hard for Odysseus because his town looks up to him for being the leader of their island. Odysseus puts his personal life behind him and makes the decision to fight for his village. This decision shows that his responsibility of being a leader takes priority over his own life. He gives up the place of home and devotes his life towards warfare. Odysseus explains the ideal leader has to be responsible and put his life on the line to lead his warriors. Time and time again Odysseus shows responsibility when he is figuring out a way to get back to Ithaca, so he takes it upon himself to go to Aeolus for the bag of wind. This is just one of many responsible instances when Odysseus puts himself in danger to save his warriors. Responsibility is what grows upon Odysseus throughout the book, and it is what makes him be the great leader he is. Continuing, Odysseus represents his courageous quality not only during the Trojan war but many times throughout the novel. For example, when he climbs up the steep mountain to save his men, leaving the ship and shore, I headed inland, chambering up through hushed, entrancing glades untilHermes god of the golden wand crossed my path.Where are you going now, my unlucky friend, trekking over the hills along in an unfamiliar country? (Homer 239). This example demonstrates that the journey up the mountain was a great struggle for Odysseus, but he never gave up because he is going to save his soldiers. It also exemplifies his unselfishness as he could have left and continued onto Ithaca, but decides to stay and save his men. His courage also shows when Odysseus loses all his soldiers to the sea monster, but he must survive in the ocean by himself. He thought he was not going to survive but never gave up because he wants to return to Ithaca. Continuing throughout the novel, Odysseus shows h is courageous skills to protect his men and himself. Odysseuss brilliant mind shines when having to go through hard tasks. It is what drives his decisions throughout the book, and it is what makes him an especially great leader. An excellent example of this is when he comes up with the idea of hiding in the horse and then attacking the Trojans. If it werent for this idea, he possibly would not have defeated the Trojans. Throughout the journey with his men, Odysseus carries them through tough situations, using his great ideas to help them out. Another example is when the giant trapped him and his men in a cave, but Odysseus came up with the idea of stabbing him in the eye to move the rock covering the door, So we seized our stake with its fiery too and bored it round and round in the giants eye till blood came boiling up (Homer 223). As stated earlier, the quality of thinking logically is one that defines a good leader in Greek mythology. Odysseuss brilliant mind helps him achieve this level of greatness. In conclusion, Odysseus responsibility, courage, and brilliance shows through significant events in the novel and eventually lead them to victory. It makes him be an incredible leader to his men, like saving them, guiding them, and explaining his unique ideas to the men. Odysseus never gave up on his crew, even when they werent the most brilliant. All in all, it is for Odysseus responsibility, courage, and brilliance to make him be the leader that brought a small but mighty army to victory.

The Relationship of the United States With Russia

From 1922 to 1991, Russia represented the largest portion of the Soviet Union, and it dominated the coalition of Marxist proto-states. Through most the final half of the 20th century, the United States and the Soviet Union, also known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), were the principal actors in an epic battle, referred to as a Cold War, for global domination. This battle was, in the broadest sense, a struggle between communist and capitalist forms of economy and social organization. Even though Russia has now nominally adopted democratic and capitalist structures, Cold War history still colors U.S.-Russian relations. World War II Prior to entering World War II, the United States gave the Soviet Union and other countries millions of dollars worth of weapons and other support for their fight against Nazi Germany. The two nations became allies in the liberation of Europe. At wars end, countries occupied by Soviet forces, including a large part of Germany, were dominated by Soviet influence. British Prime Minister  Winston Churchill described this territory as being behind an Iron Curtain. The division provided the framework for the Cold War  which ran from roughly 1947 to 1991. Fall of the Soviet Union In the mid-1980s Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev led a series of reforms known as glasnost and perestroika which eventually brought the dissolution of the Soviet empire into a variety of independent states. In 1991, Boris Yeltsin became the first democratically elected Russian president. The dramatic change led to an overhaul of U.S. foreign and defense policy. The new era of tranquility that ensued also led the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists to set the Doomsday Clock back to 17 minutes to midnight (the farthest away the clocks minute hand has ever been), a sign of stability on the world stage. New Cooperation The end of the Cold War gave the United States and Russia new opportunities to cooperate. Russia took over the permanent seat (with full veto power) previously held by the Soviet Union at the United Nations Security Council. The Cold War had created gridlock in the council, but the new arrangement meant a rebirth in U.N. action. Russia was also invited to join the informal Group of Seven (G-7) gathering of the worlds largest economic powers, making it the G-8. The United States and Russia also found ways to cooperate in securing loose nukes—enriched uranium or other nuclear material on the black market—in former Soviet territory. There is still much to be done on this issue, however. Old Frictions Despite friendlier efforts, the United States and Russia still have found plenty of areas to clash: The United States has pushed hard for further political and economic reforms in Russia, while Russia bristles at what it sees as meddling in its internal affairs. The United States and its allies in NATO have invited new, former Soviet, nations to join the alliance in the face of deep Russian opposition.Russia and the United States have clashed over how best to settle the final status of Kosovo and how to treat Irans efforts to gain nuclear weapons.Russias controversial annexation of Crimea and military action in Georgia highlighted the rift in U.S.-Russian relations. Examples Of Anti-Semitism In The Merchant Of Venice

A play that is filled with Jewish slurs, anti-Semitic remarks, and no justice for the main Jewish character is, in theory, seen as despicable. After the Holocaust, all Jewish slurs and stereotypes, like calling someone â€Å"dog Jew† or thinking Jews only care about money, have been exiled from moral society. This even applies to pieces of art that were produced pre-Holocaust. However, William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice is not only read, but taught in schools across the nation. The Merchant of Venice provides the tale of Bassanio and Antonio who take out a loan from the Jewish merchant Shylock. Throughout the play’s insanity, each and every one of the non-Jewish characters waste no time to harass Shylock about his religious†¦show more content†¦Since Shylock is Jewish, his vengeance is seen as heinous, while Antonio’s would be considered heroic since he’s a Christian character. His religion creates a preconception in peopleâ€℠¢s mind that he is evil, so any wrong move portrays him as the villain. Also, during the courtroom scene, all of the Christians have complete faith Antonio won’t have to lose a pound from his body because Shylock will take the six thousand ducats instead. However, when Bassanio offers Shylock the money, Shylock turns his nose to the offer. He remarks, â€Å"If every ducat in six parts, and every part a ducat, I would not draw them. I would have my bond† (Shakespeare, 4.1.86-88). Shylock’s surprising answer reveals that Jewish people go against even their strongest stereotypes. Jewish people are known to desire nothing but money. However, Shylock feels so hurt from all of Antonio’s past harassment, he craves revenge and nothing more. Stereotypes force people to believe people in certain groups will follow the mold their society has created them and will act more like caricatures than people. Shylock’s need for revenge reminds us Jewish people have t he same emotions as everyone else. The heartfelt passages from Shylock demonstrate anti-Semitism is unfair to the Jewish people’s image. Essay on My Lai Massacre - 1127 Words

My Lai Massacre Soldiers are trained to always follow orders, and to never question orders. But that belief is somewhat illogical. Soldiers are to obey any lawful order given. But the training involved, the often chaotic nature of battle, and the need to follow authority to maintain survival can lead to a very blurred vision of what is right or wrong. Ones animalistic instincts may take over. Sometimes there are such situations when youve stepped over the line. Such as the horrendous act that took place on March 16, 1968 in the village of Son My. A few weeks later on March fourteenth, a small squad from Charlie Company ran into another booby trap, this time killing a popular sergeant, blinding on GI, and wounding many others. The soldiers of Charlie Company became demoralized as they lost nearly one-third of their troop in two months. Many in the company had given in to an easy pattern of violence. Prisoners were systematically beaten, unarmed civilians sometimes murdered, whole villages burned, and wells poisoned. Rapes were not uncommon. Many military leaders encouraged and rewarded kills in an effort to produce impressive body counts that could be reported to Saigon as an indication of progress. On March 16, 1968. Charlie Company was ordered to enter the Hamlet of My Lai to clear out the Viet Congs forty-eighth battalion that was believed to be in the vicinity. The soldiers mission would be to engage the forty-eighth battalion and destroy the village of My Lai. The attack was to begin at seven-thirty in the morning. Military leaders believed the women and children would be out of the village heading for the local market by this time, leaving only the Viet Cong. This advancement and improvement however, requires us to follow it. Like Countries for example, Countries need to cope in the technological change this advancement brings in order to Stay relevant. But Of course some countries however are less fortunate, just look at our country, the Philippines. This results in a lackluster change Technologically speaking and thus, leaves the Philippines in the dust when it comes to technological advancement. Compared to other far more advanced countries, our Country pales in imprison. This gap in technological advancement results in mediocre establishments, businesses, public schools etc. But what is the reason for this? The Government is one thing, but there has to be another reason on why our Country lacks or let’s say falls behind in regards to Technology. We need to look a little deeper, first of all, we lack funds, investments, we are just mere followers and we are not the innovators, at least, technologically speaking. In order to overcome this however, even by at least by a small margin, we need to start from the bottom. It all starts with the employees, Better employees Better and much more work done. Looks simple enough, but I think this is where we need to start. How do we make the employees better though? By their attendance. Attendance is an integral part to know if your employee is working at a high level or if they are working enough. At first glance, this may sound easy enough. Some will probably say that checking an employees attendance is easy, but with our current manual systems, is it accurate? As stated above, we are technologically behind than other countries, they are probably using automated systems that eases the job of everybody. While here, most, but of course NOT ALL of the establishments and companies are using manual systems that takes a lot of time and effort. Now, THAT is where this system comes in. Background of the Study As stated in our long introduction above, the technological gap between the Philippines and other Countries serves as the backbone and the background of this study. Of course this helps out in our study, and is the main reason we aim to do this system. Statement of objectives Our objective is simple, ease the work done, but also improving the work and increasing the work done overall. CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION Project Context The advancement of technology today has immersed itself towards education. The presence of technology has reached its maximum of providing sustainable technology towards quality education through delivery and effective learning. [l] The Isabella State University Laboratory High School is one of the public high schools that embrace information and communication technology now. We will write a custom essay sample on Attendance monitoring system or any similar topic only for you Order Now As they immersed themselves with technology through their delivery of lessons and other forms brought about by Information technology. Attendance is very important in every student, a ingle absent is big difference in performance in the school. Mostly students Of high school are prone to absences, it is because Of some reasons that they think it is a boring class, laziness to attend the class, some students prefer going to computer shops playing games rather than entering the class and some student cannot refuse the influence of a friend inviting to go with them during class period. Some of this reasons are not reported to the parents or guardians because the way of informing them is the traditional way which is they inviting the parents through telling the students that the parent need mom to school and communicate with the teacher about the absenteeism of the student. This process takes a long process and sometimes parents are not able to come because of some reasons that the parents are busy at work; they are away from the school and have an important matter to take care of. These are the reason why the parents are not informed about the absenteeism of the students. In this manner, the researchers therefore proposed the Parent Portal and Attendance Monitoring System with Short Message Service (SMS). The design and development of the system consists of two platforms. The first platform is the stand alone or window-based system. The stand alone or window-based system’s function is to record attendance. If the student is absent and it is recorded to the stand alone system or window-base system, it will open a form that contains the SMS application that has a function to send a notification to parent that the student is absent. Saving of attendance in the stand alone or window-based system will trigger the second platform which is the parent portal or web- based system to duplicate the recorded attendance of the stand alone or window-based system. In other words, the two platforms will record the attendance simultaneously. The parent portal or web-based system function is to display the recorded attendance. This will allow the registered parents to view the attendance of their own child. The Parent Portal and Attendance Monitoring System with SMS will help the parents to inform about their students. Since there are two platforms that will be develop, informing the parent about the student is also two ways. The first way of informing parent about the attendance of the student is to send a notification using SMS and he second way of informing the parent is to access the Parent Portal or web- based system. The Parent Portal and Attendance Monitoring System with SMS provide a fast way of informing the parent anytime many,’here. Purpose and Description of the Study The study is focused on the attendance monitoring of the students in the school through the design and development of a system providing a means of information on the student’s inputted grades and attendance of the student’s on the school through parent portal and via SMS reminder notification. The study main reason of existence is to send information to the parents. The information composed of the student’s attendance to class. The recorded everyday attendance to class is displayed in the parent portal and if absences occur it automatically sent to parents. The system also includes; inputting of students grades and computation of student’s average per grading period. With the system providing a user-friendly and effective system provides an easier and faster view of data of every student such as when the faculty/ adman is mistaken in the input of grades, the system provides the means Of updating the record. The system can retrieve information from the database ND can view anytime. Objective of the Study General Objective: The design and development of Parent Portal and Attendance Monitoring system aims to provide an interface for the parent to monitor their child’s attendance to school; specifically has the following functionalities: Window- based System 1 . A system that will record the student’s attendance and inputted grade in each subject every grading period. 2. A system that has a web browser feature that will replicate the inputted data in stand-alone system. 3. A system that will create an account for parents to have an access to the parent portal SMS Application 4. Send an SMS to the parents telling them if their son/daughter is absent. Parent Portal 5. A web-based system that will display the inputted records in the stand alone system. 6. A web-based system that will compute the average of a student per grading period. 7. A web-based system that will display the rank of the student. 8. A web-based system that will print report. Scope and Limitations of the Project The proposed parent portal and attendance monitoring system with SMS is designed and developed for the whole school year 2012-2013 at Isabella State University Laboratory High School. The design and development of the project shall compose of two distinct functionalities such a windows-based system and web-based system. In terms of windows-based system, the system’s function is on the recording of class attendances and inputting computed grades. The system also manages the user registration to the system such as; Adman of the Window-based system and Guardian who are the user of the parent portal and receiver of the notifications via SMS- The system provides functionality of recording the individual records of the dents such as attendance and inputted grade in every grading period in the school. The system also provides a search capability for the user can easily view the student records. You read "Attendance monitoring system" in category "Papers" The system also provides the functionality of sending notification and reminder via SMS. These notifications are the absences of the student. The reminder will sent to the parents for them to know what is happening to the student. In terms of the parent portal, the services provided the parent, the ability to view the class attendances and computed grades in every quarter and the ranking of their child in entire grading. The parent can also generate report through printing. The performance in terms of grades, attendances, quizzes, participation, assignment/projects and periodical test misconducts in school quarterly are not to be displayed in parent portal. The functional limitation of the project is based on the functional role of the users to the system and web based system. There are two users to the system, the administrator and the parent. In terms of the adman, it has the capability to perform the recording as well as the updating the records in terms of the students attendance and computed grade in every quarter. Every update and recording of the student’s performance is automatically posted to the Parent Portal. While on the side of the parent, it has the capacity to log in from the web by accessing the web portal. The parents directly view his/ her child performance base on its grades and attendance to school in parent portal. CHAPTER II REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE Related Studies/Theoretical Background There is a significant body of research demonstrating the contribution of parent involvement to student learning. Henderson and Map (2002) reviewed several studies and provided a synthesis of the research findings. The report points to the strong impact of parent involvement on both student achievement and attendance and behavior. Research also indicates that participation declines with grade level, that socioeconomic status and family situation are factors in determining parent involvement and that students want their families to be involved (Epstein, 2002). Perhaps the most widely quoted work is by Epstein (2002) in her model of parent involvement which describes six different categories. Pusher (2007) extends the definition beyond involvement to engagement and argues that engagement is the Lamar of parent connections that truly make a difference for students. Reports in studies are related to project’s objective. Since the parent’s involvement in the student is very important, the researcher’s study is to develop a system that would monitor the students for the parents. All the models speak to the importance of context in understanding parent engagement. While the types of engagement can be described, schools will be successful in working with parents and communities if the staff take time to listen, to understand, and to relate to the families with whom they work Pusher,2007). Each child arrives at school carrying the aspirations of the parent (Marijuana’s, 2002), a family background (Bethel, 2004), and the culture of the family community. In this case, researchers must develop a communication between the staffs and the guardians of the students. The Quest for Communities that Work: Sustaining Student Improvement, An International Symposium for Education and Community Leaders, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. (Supplied by author) This report highlights the findings Of a research project with the primary purpose of determining if school nuncios have the ability to influence the rate of parental participation in education, with a particular emphasis on the types of involvement that may lead to improved student learning. The secondary purpose of the research project was to identify the ways in which Notation’s parents prefer to be involved in their children’s education. Comments) The study concluded that a deliberate focus and activity related to the Epstein framework did produce a higher level of parental involvement as compared to schools without such a focus. Four recommendations for organizing programs to stimulate parental involvement are made. 1 . Stimulate activity within eight strategic categories of involve ment. These are described in the, an extension of the Epstein (2002) model, adding Attending School Events and Fundraising to the model. Experimental research on the use of progress monitoring to enhance student performance has focused primarily on one form of progress monitoring: Curriculum-Based Measurement (CB). Academic areas frequently assessed using CB include reading mathematics, written expression, and spelling. Criteria that describe the measures used as part of CB include valid and liable indicators of generalized performance, short duration to facilitate frequent administration, a focus on direct and repeated measures of student performance, multiple forms that are inexpensive to create and produce, and sensitivity to changes in student achievement over time. Related Studies In a study developed by Wilson Abacas Learn (1 999), on a Proposed Grading System of Subcategories National School of Arts and Trade Sunday Subcategories Squiring, she noted the following: 1 . Slow Grade Computation 2. Time Consuming 3. Inaccuracy grades 4. Bulky Workload For those reasons, she recommends a computerized system: 1 . To reduce the time and effort in computing grades 2. To provide complete processing needed with efficiency and accuracy 3. To provide accurate grades reports. 2] The study violins Abacas Lorraine has the capacity to record the grades of the students but the grades recorded in the system must inform to parents, in this case the researcher’s used the widely known World Wide Web to browse the grades of the students and see the top performed students and also, the parents can discuss the grades of the students. In a study of Jennifer C. Cotton (2001), on a Proposed Computerized Student Monitoring System of the Information Technology of U niversity of La Salute Santiago City, she noted the following: 1. Slow data processing 2. Inaccuracy of repost 3. Lost of unrecorded files For those reasons, she recommends a computerized System: 1. TO answer data security and fast, accessing of students information 2. TO lessen document in folder because it will already be placed and stored in diskettes for more secured data storage. 3. To make the job of staff, cashier, faster and more accurate. [3] Jennifer C. Cotton proposed a good system UT it is not well managed. The researcher didn’t focus in recording but in disseminating the students’ performance because it is the responsibility of the parent for them to know what is happening. CHAPTER Ill TECHNICAL BACKGROUND In this chapter discuss the technicality of the project by which it describes the type of the project to be developed and its functionality. It also represents the type of application development of the project. Technicality of the Project Figure 1 . Network Architecture The proponents have used the web 2. 0 because it supports the features of he system like AJAX and JAVA script. The data fetched by an Ajax request is typically formatted in XML or SON (JavaScript Object Notation) format; two widely used structured data formats. Since both of these formats are natively understood by JavaScript it can easily use to transmit structured data in their web application. When this data is received via Ajax, the JavaScript program then uses the Document Object Model (DOOM) to dynamically update the web page based on the new data, allowing for a rapid and interactive user experience. The system works and functions in 3-tier architecture, it imposed Of the presentation layer, application layer and persistence layer. From the diagram below describes the architectural layout of the project. In the diagram it represents the different functionalities of the system. From the presentation layer, the faculty, adman and parent are the sole user involve in the system. The application layer is composed of the windows-based system and the web-based system. The window-based system is designed through the use of visual basic. Net application includes the use of a remote modem to send via SMS. While the web-based system is designed using the AJAX development, with CSS tools and other scripting to derive the functionality of the system. On the third layer is the persistence layer in which it is composed of the understanding of the database of all the system developed. Details of Technology to be Use The scope of this section is the discussion on what are the technologies is being used and how did the researcher use these technologies. CAMP 1. 7 or higher Developers will use this as development tool, to allow website designers and programmers to test their work on their own computers without any access to the Internet Myself -pronounced either â€Å"My S-Q-L† or My Sequel,† is an open source relational database management system. A website that uses Myself may include Web pages that access information from a database. These pages are often referred to as â€Å"dynamic,† meaning the content of each page is generated from a database as the page loads. Websites that use dynamic Web pages are often referred to as database-driven websites. Myself will use by the researcher because it is one of the database that is compatible with the development of the system. HTML -This is the language that Web pages are written in. If you want to create really great Web pages then you will need to learn this. As far as computer languages go this is the easiest to learn. You can create a Web page without it using a Web page editing program but the program will still use HTML to create the page. [4] CSS;Cascading style sheets re used to format the layout of Web pages. In the strictest sense, a modem is a device that converts between analog signals, such as sound waves, and digital signals, which are used by computers. However, the term has also come to include devices that permit the transmission of entirely digital signals. Cellular Phone-A portable telephone that uses wireless cellular technology to send and receive phone signals. This technology works by dividing the Earth into small regions called cells. Within each cell the wireless telephone signal goes over its assigned bandwidth to a cell tower, which relays the signal to a telephone switching network, connecting the user to the desired party. [6] How the Project will Work? To disseminate the information on the parents, the projects works in a client based system. It shows how the project work and how the process done in all layers. From the presentation layer, where the client’s interface or the parents, to application layer, where the administrator or the staff of the faculty, to persistence layer or the database layer of the system, the system is being explained in further details. There are two kinds of system to be used view the information; through SMS and through Web Portal. It means that there are also TV’0 presentation layers, two application layers and two persistence layers. As you can see above figure, there are two users which are the parents, two application areas which are the application server of the window base application and the hobnobbing server and two database servers. To disseminate information on the parents, data and information must gather beforehand to record or save in the database of the system and ready to be viewed by the parents. In order to collect data, the adman records the student grades every grading period to the system after able to collect all the grades from their subject teacher. One distinct feature of the system is that it automatically sends notification or reminder to the parent via SMS whenever his child incurs absences in school. It also automatically updates the record from the parent portal whenever there are updates made from the system. On the side Of the web-based system, the adman can therefore reply back to all query posted from the web portal by the parents. METHODOLOGY Requirement Specification Operational Feasibility Fishbone Diagram One of the most effective method to track the root cause or problem of the agency or at the area were the study were taken which is the school, fishbone method is being used because researcher can determine what problems are going to solve when the system is being implemented. The diagram below wows what are the data gathered by the researchers. It shows the cause and effect of the current system of the school. Figure 2. Fishbone Diagram of the Project Functional Decomposition Diagram FED is a diagram that shows the breakdown structure in smallest component of the system that the researchers going to develop after studying analyzing the data that are gathered in feasibility and planning phase. This will help track the functionalities of the system and let you know the features that can are being added into the system. This diagram shows all the processes of the system. It will help the searchers on creating DEED because it is similar to context diagram that all processes are being displayed in one diagram. How to cite Attendance monitoring system, Papers

Financial Management Evaluation of the Business Proposal†Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the vehicle for Environmental Protection Against carbon Emission for RUNWELL Corporation. Answer: Introduction The present budget report is focused on the evaluation of case study of RUNWELL Corporation in order to assist them in making viable decision regarding their new proposal. For this purpose, various financial tools and industry facts will be considered in the financial evaluation. On the basis of the analysis, the recommendation will be provided to GM of RUNWELL Corporation so they can make a selection of the most beneficial option. Table of cash flows Table of cash flow shows outflow and inflow of cash affected by this project. Initially, RUNWELL Corporation is required to make an investment of $1,570,000. In addition to this, variable cost will be of 45% and fixed cost of $160,000 every year. Employees are required to be trained for training cost, and quality assurance cost is to be incurred. All these expenses are easily recovered through revenues that will be earned through the proposed project and at the end of each financial year there is positive cash flow. Further, at the end of the project i.e. in 8th year, there will be higher cash flow as realisable value of the asset will be recovered. Cash budget of the company shows that GM had considered all possible expenses and revenue to showcase actual position of the project. Positive cash flow at the end of every single financial year clearly shows that proposed project is beneficial financially as it will make improvement in overall credibility and financial position of busine ss. Investment appraisal tools Net present value This is the most viable capital appraisal tool as it considers all crucial aspects of projects like time, inflow and outflow of cash and the present value of money. In accordance with this tool, the project is considered to be favourable if it provides positive value by considering all outflow and inflow of cash. By considering net present value calculation of present proposal, it can be noticed that NPV of the project is $610,636. Discounting for this project is done by considering WACC in order to appropriate consideration of time value of money in cash flows. The project is also beneficial because in initial years there is high flow which increases the overall value of investment in the proposed venture. Internal rate of return This capital appraisal tool computes the interest rate at which NPV is zero i.e. cash inflow is equivalent to the cash outflow. This tool is beneficial for evaluation of attractiveness of project for the purpose of investment. As per this technique, the project is said to be profitable if IRR is higher in comparison to the required rate of return. Computation shows that IRR of proposed venture is 23% which is higher than the cost of capital. It shows that project inflows are sufficient to recover the cost of investment as well as to provide positive returns to the company. Payback Period Payback period is specified as the number of years which are required to pay back initial investment of a capital project through cash flows of the project. Formula = No of years before full recovery of project cost+ Unrecovered cost at the start of year/ Cash flows during full recovery year. The net cash flow is the cash generated through the investment each year. It is also considered as a frequent method of capital budgeting as the same provides management with a rough estimate regarding the decision of acceptability of the project. Hence it is applied in a variety of capital decision for ascertaining appropriate decision. In the present case, according to calculation, it can be observed that a short payback period i.e. 3.8 years thus the project should be accepted by management. Discounted Payback period Discounted payback can be said as that period of time which is required to cover the cost of a project, by including positive discounted cash generated from the profits of the project. The advantage that can be attained by applying the specified method is that the final decision is taken considered after taking into account the time value of money. Formula = Year before discounted payback period occurs + Cumulative cash flow in the year before / Discounted cash flow in the year after recovery. The calculation of discounted payback period is having a minor change in comparison to payback period i.e. the cash flow used in calculations are discounted by the weighted average cost of capital which is used at the interest rate. Discounted payback period occurs when the negative cumulative cash flow converts to positive cash flow; this generally exists in a second and third year. In the present scenario as high positive cash flows exists in initial years and at the same time a lower discounted payback period exists; the project should be accepted by the management. As the existing conditions will allow management to cover investment cost in starting years i.e. in 5.51 years and even possibilities are available for earning higher profits. Industry factors By considering the trends of the industry, it can be noticed that huge efforts are made by automobile manufacturers to make a reduction in carbon emission by making an investment in research and development activities in order to meet environmental standards. However, technologies used for this aspect is continuously changing, but previous technologies are not getting absolutely obsolete. It is because huge technical investment is made to achieve even smaller reductions. Thus, the considered project for 10 years will not be significantly affected by the technological advancement. Although, if in meanwhile duration of the project if there is better technology then GM of RUNWELL Corporation can opt for that by considering cost-benefit analysis of the same. Further, being a part of the automobile industry, RUNWELL Corporation should focus on other factors influencing emissions during the use of the vehicle along with considering environmental aspects. These factors comprise carbon conte nt of fuels, the behaviour of the driver, infrastructure and the age of the car fleet. This has been considered in the proposed project which shows investment is viable financially as well as non-financially. Recommendations By considering the above analysis, GM of RUNWELL Corporation is recommended to accept the proposal for introducing a new line of parts of the vehicle for environmental protection against carbon emission. Investment in this project will provide monetary as well as non-monetary benefits to the company. The investment will provide positive returns to the company as there is positive NPV of $610636 and internal rate of return is comparatively higher than the cost of capital. Furthermore, regulatory authorities are changing regulations to promote technologies in favour of environment and reduction in carbon emission is one of them. In addition to this, customers also consider the fact of carbon emission while making their purchase decision by being conscious about the environment. As a consequence, this project will provide a competitive advantage to the company by generating goodwill and strengthening brand image. With the completion of this project, the company can make an investment in advanced technologies that will ensure environment protection as well as profitability for the business. The concern of GM is viable regarding unexpected growth in car manufacturing technology, but industry analysis clearly indicates that proposed project is in favour of market trends through which company will be able to attain competitive advantage and grab market opportunities for extraordinary profits. Conclusion In accordance with the present study, the conclusion can be drawn that proposed project is in benefit of RUNWELL Corporation as it will make an increase in their operating profits along with providing non-monetary advantages such brand enhancement and competitive advantages in the market. Work-Related Project Analysis Essay Example

Work-Related Project Analysis Essay Work-Related Project Analysis Part 1 The analysis of a project is the breakdown of how a system interacts and works within all related components. A project analysis is the first step to designing any new changes for an organization. Systems analysis is (1) the survey and planning of the system and project, (2) the study and analysis of the existing business and information system, and (3) the definition of business requirements and priorities for a new or improved system. A popular synonym is logical design. Newton, 2013) An organization performs an analysis of an existing system to decide if changes will benefit the daily operations. The analysis performed must be accurate and reliable. Information Gathering There are many methods used to perform an analysis. The gathering of information is critical to implementing the right changes an organization may need. If the wrong information is gathered, the organization may waste time and money implementing a new system that either does no t work or is useless to the operations of the organization. Organizations need to know the correct billing and coding functions are being used on a daily bases. They may choose several different ways to gather information to ensure the facility compensated is gaining the maximum benefits. Physicians frequently miss home health charges. The laws governing each state have requirements a physician must abide to bill time for plan over site. Physicians need ways to keep track of who is eligible for home health. The physician also needs to monitor how much time is involved during a 30-day period. Interviews Interviews are one of the most common means to gather information. It is beneficial to the analysis to gather this information directly from those individuals who will be utilizing the new system. The interviews need proper planning and focus on each area of specialty. The best questions to ask are open-ended questions. These inquiries force the participant to give more information than just yes or no answers. When interviewing participants analyst should ask questions that enable a complete picture of what stakeholders need to create a system that is useful and cost effective. Questionnaires We will write a custom essay sample on Work-Related Project Analysis specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Work-Related Project Analysis specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Work-Related Project Analysis specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer Questionnaires are a great way to ask questions of stakeholders without a direct face-to-face encounter. Questionnaires create a more relaxed response from participants. This is a great method to use when you have a large organization and need to interview a large group of people. However, one drawback to this method is participants may write responses just to complete the form or not even give a response. Prototypes Prototyping is another method in the arsenal of gathering information. This method based on information gathered and the system created; based on criteria produces a preliminary version. You show this to the client, who then gives you additional requirements. You change the application and cycle around with the client again. This repetitive process continues until the product meets the critical mass of business needs or for an agreed number of iterations (Mochal, 2008). Use Cases Use cases are stories from the actors that describe how the system currently works and â€Å"†¦describe how the solution works from a user perspective† (Mochal, 2008). This method is helpful to analysts by giving a more useful understanding of what the new system needs to do. Using this method requires the analysts to refine the information into a format that shows specific details to outline the structure of requirements needed. Direct Observations Direct observations can be most helpful when the stakeholder does not know how to explain in detail what goes on during a typical daily routine. In some cases, it might be more beneficial to take a ‘hands on approach’ to gain a better understanding of what is required. This method shows how the current system is used and will hopefully light the way to implementing better use of resources. Brainstorming Brainstorming can be most helpful when the organization does not really know what areas need improvement or need a more creative way to perform a desired outcome. Experts in the use of the current system will get together with a project manager and together think of creative solutions to issues the organization is currently experiencing. After all the ideas from the session are, collected management decides what ideas would best provide a solution(s) to issues. Based on these decisions a project manager then creates a proposal. Design Methods Designing a new system takes time and an understanding of what goal the organization is trying to gain. Designing a new home health system to gather patient information, monitor certification and recertification periods, and keep track of plan over site is the goal. Every project manager has to explore all of the possibilities needs to secure the desired goal. Divergence is having an understanding of constraints an organization may face when trying to keep track of the patient load, certification periods, and plan over site. A prototype was implementing to put together a working system to gain a better understanding and create a better functioning system. Building a new system to keep track of areas of interest also need to be sustainable. New systems must be realistic to use and maintain. The sustainability of a new system needs to user friendly. Designing a home health system for the organization will present a visual understanding of what each state will allow a physician to bill for. Analyze and Evaluate The home health system implemented in the organization keeps track of patients that are new to service as well as those who come off service. A scheduled time allotment monitors home health certification 60-day period; plan over site 30-day cycle monitored and billed according to state regulations. Management is ultimately responsible for monitoring these reports. The initial analysis of the new home health system showed a recovery potential of lost money. According to state regulations, the 60-day and 30-day billing cycles utilized are affecting the organization’s bottom-line in a positive manner. The organization suffered a great loss of money before the new system implemented changes. Project managers use three types of monitoring. According to Thomet and Vozza (2010) They happen at different levels of the logical framework and serve different functions: 1) implementation monitoring is operational: it monitors the activities and outputs; 2) impact monitoring concentrates on the immediate objectives; 3) reporting concerns the concrete (narrative and financial) reports that have to be prepared and submitted periodi ¬cally to the main stakeholders, particularly donors. Project manager will ensure the organization’s personnel trained in using the new system are comfortable with the new system. The new system produces a report reminding the billing and coding staff when certain patients are eligible for billing. Conclusion Organizations all over the world work hard to streamline the daily operations. These daily functions affect the bottom line. When an organization is evaluating the internal functions, an analysis helps determine areas that may need adjustments and in some cases a completely new system to meet the organizations goals. This is where an analyst is most useful. An organization performs an analysis of the existing system to determine if changes will benefit daily operations. The analysis performed must be accurate and reliable. The analyst may utilize many different methodologies when gathering the necessary information in order to make the right recommendation. The analysis may contain personal face-to-face interviews, questionnaires, prototypes, use cases, direct observations, brainstorming, or any combination of methodologies. The actual design of an effective new system takes time and understanding. The analyst needs a clear understanding of the organization’s ultimate goal. The final system implementation requires management to sustain monitoring and maintenance. Training the proper personnel is vital to the success of any new system. Management is responsible for monitoring system functions, the impact of the new system on daily activities and reporting any concerns to stakeholders. The new home health system implemented has allowed the organization to recover money that would otherwise be lost. The new system also allows managers to monitor and maintain accurate reliable billing and coding of certification and recertification of patients using home health services. Plan over site also billed with the same accuracy and reliability has recovered and maintained money for the organization. Reference Mochal, T. (2008). 10 techniques for gathering requirements.
